TODAY’S DEVELOPMENTS

PRICE LIST · INDONESIA

Indonesian producer pushes through third PE and PP hike this week

Indonesia's domestic producer extended its pricing push towards the end of the week, rolling out a second hike on Wednesday and a third on Thursday. Cumulative increases since the Wednesday’s hike now total IDR 710,000–890,000/ton for PE and IDR 350,000–360,000/ton for PP, with PP rolled over for the second round, giving buyers a brief pause before the producer resumed hikes on the third round.

With Brent now trading above $100/barrel and prompt cargo availability in the domestic market running tight, the upward push looked all but inevitable. Further upside looks more likely than a near-term pullback unless demand pushes back harder or crude eases.

BASF's Zhanjiang outage offers brief reprieve in a wave of upcoming capacity additions

China's PE market faces a fresh pocket of localized tightness after BASF confirmed an unplanned shutdown at its Zhanjiang swing unit, The stoppage pulls a flexible South China line offline just as converters head into the fourth quarter restocking cycle, though the restart timeline carries real risk given it hinges on feedstock availability at the integrated complex.

The timing is notable because it lands against a wave of incoming PE capacity, due to ramp through year-end from projects including PetroChina Tarim II, Baofeng Energy IV, and Fujian Gulei II. Against that backdrop, the outage offers sellers a temporary cushion rather than a structural shift in the supply picture.

The key swing factors to track are how quickly new capacity ramps to nameplate rates and whether ethylene constraints push BASF's restart past the restocking cycle, either of which would reshape how much breathing room converters actually get in the coming quarter.
