TODAY’S DEVELOPMENTS

PLANT · CHINA

China’s PVC output fell in June as weak demand, rising costs eroded margins

Domestic PVC producers faced a clustering of pressures in June, as persistent real estate weakness and seasonal rains compounded on one another, souring demand and squeezing producers from multiple directions at once. That burden forced multiple plants to temporarily cut rates or shut down units, dragging local production down on both a monthly and yearly basis. Export demand softened in tandem among key destinations, with buyers turning highly cautious amid falling input costs. Imports, meanwhile, ticked up from the previous month as regional supply disruptions eased.

Early bearish sentiment emerge in Vietnam's PE market as sellers start to blink

The market showed early signs of softening in contrast to the PP market on Tuesday, though discounting stayed uneven and moderate across grades. Within the import segment, offers were generally mixed, as some imported cargoes saw modest discounts while other grades held steady. In the meantime, local trading houses moved more aggressively, slashing prices on certain locally held cargoes to draw out buying interest.
