The Chinese Customs Department has released data on the import PP, PE, and PVC arrivals to the country in the month of April 2021.
In spite of the plunging import arrivals coupled with the dropped in local production output, the domestic PP and PE market tracked the downtrend throughout the month of April.
It is informed that availability for June loading is limited due to an issue with the upstream ethylene supply that crippled the downstream PE production.
The continued weakening trend in the import ground encourages buyers to negotiate aggressively for discounts, though sellers attempt to limit the extent of price reduction considering the upstream costs.
Several traders informed of lower inventories pressure after conceded to discounts in the previous week, however, maintain a bearish expectation in the near-term outlook.
Transactions on Shenhua’s auction platform have somewhat improved from last week, however, buyers seem to remain cautious reflecting in the mediocre deal results.
