TODAY’S DEVELOPMENTS
POLYETHYLENE · VIETNAM
Malaysian producer lifts October LDPE offers to Vietnam on continued ethylene surge
A key Malaysian producer has raised October LDPE offers to Vietnam by over $100/ton, driven by a surge in regional spot ethylene since late June and reduced cracker run rates across Asia. The rally is compounded by China's continued absence of Iranian LDPE supply pulling regional volumes away from Vietnam, even as buyers there stay wary of chasing prices they can't pass through downstream.
Demand response is split. Domestic-focused converters are pulling back on new orders as margins erode, while export-oriented players report steadier order books despite thinner returns. After negotiations, the producer finalised the both film and lamination prices, below the initial price list as buyers pushed back on the scale of the increase.
With final October pricing due before the weekend, the outcome will be the clearest signal yet of how much of this cost-driven increase the market is willing to absorb.

PRICE LIST · INDONESIA
Indonesian producer's PP hikes diverge from PE rollover as Saudi pipeline damage bites
Indonesia's major producer revised its price list on 17 September for the first time since last week's four rounds of increases, with PE largely rolled over this time while PP saw broad hikes. The divergence reflects PP's heavier reliance on imports relative to domestic production, leaving it more exposed to any tightness building in the deep-sea cargo market.
That tightness traces back to Saudi Arabia, where a damaged pipeline at Aramco's facilities has reportedly disrupted PP output at a major regional producer, with repairs expected to take three to five weeks. Demand in the local market remains healthy even as buying ideas lag current offer levels, and the longer buyers wait, the narrower their window becomes before prices move further away from them.
Last week's cumulative gains already reached IDR 1,790,000–2,150,000/ton for PE and IDR 1,610,000–2,420,000/ton for PP, and with PP's supply squeeze unresolved for over a month, further upside there looks more likely than a pause.
