Vietnam proposes to lift environmental tax on plastics bags

The Vietnamese Ministry of Finance is proposing to lift the environmental tax on plastics bags by VND10,000 per kilogram ($0.43) to VND50,000 ($2.2) per kilogram. If the proposal is approved, the new regulation would become effective starting 1 July 2018. 

The implementation would help to increase the government tax revenue by VND13.5 billion ($593,000) per annum while stimulating companies and consumers to produce and use more environmental friendly products.
