Indonesian producer slashes spot PP and PE offers amid weak demand
A major domestic producer in Indonesia decided to slash spot PP and PE offers substantially this week following a partial lockdown imposed by the government on 10 April 2020 that forced most manufacturers in Jakarta to lower operating rates.

Sources said that local demand in both PP and PE sector would only follow the softening path in the coming days due to the dual impact from the COVID-19 outbreak and the fasting month.
Meanwhile, the distribution market is providing better bargains for buyers, from which a number of deals for homo-PP have already been concluded in the range of IDR12,500,000-12,800,000/ton without VAT ($788-807/ton) in the late last week.
“At this pace, the producer might opt to export more quantity in the coming week given the uptick in demand condition in China market,” a local trader added.
