Chinese PP plants switch production to meet new demand

There have been reports that a number of Chinese PP plants have switched production to PP fiber and non-woven medical grades to meet the surging demand from the medical equipment sector following the coronavirus outbreak before the Lunar New Year holiday.
Survey results from CommoPlast showed that the production ratio for PP fiber jumped nearly 11% compared to the pre-holiday period to approximately 20.4% this week. Meanwhile, homo-PP yarn production remains largely unchanged suggesting that output for this grade might not be impacted in the near-term.
