Saudi producer down-adjusted PP, PE offers to Vietnam, sold out LLDPE film

A week after announcing December shipment offers, a major Saudi Arabia producer has stepped back on the price list to attract better purchasing interest.

The latest offers and changes compared to the prices list are shown in the following table: 

Apparently, Vietnamese buyers have accepted LLDPE film cargoes for the concern that supply might tighten in the coming months due to a brief shutdown in December and a major shutdown in March 2020. 

“The availability is very limited. We are unable to obtain the regular quantity this month. We are looking to procure additional cargoes from other sources,” a buyer said.

Meanwhile, response towards the homo-PP and LDPE lamination cargoes is not as positive as the supplier would hope for. Customers have portrayed the lack of appetite for homo-PP given the presence of more competitive cargoes in the market. In fact, a distributor reported that no deals have been reached for this grade even at the new price levels.

As reported earlier, the producer did not offer HDPE film and PP block copolymer this month due to a production hiccup.
