On the second working day after the weeklong Lunar New Year holiday, Vietnamese buyers reported having received offers for re-export Indian homo-PP yarn from Ningbo port of China at $1090/ton CIF Vietnam, LC AS term. Such development usually struck heavy concern among players in the country, who fear of a bearish outlook in the nearby China market would drag prices lower.

“However, there is only one offer in the market, and therefore the impact on the market might not be too significant,” a buyer commented. The source is bidding at $1070-1080/ton for the parcel.

Most Chinese converters might only come back after the Chap Goh Mei festival on 19 February, and therefore, it is challenging in gauging the demand prospect in this market at the moment.

“The re-export cargo might be a result of selected Chinese traders, who are facing inventories pressure. We are waiting for more suppliers to open new prices,” another buyer added.

At the time this report is published, import homo-PP yarn to Vietnam is reported in the range $1090-1110/ton CIF, LC AS.
