There have been a better number of deals for import LLDPE film from various origins reported in Vietnam this week, which is a result of the pre-Lunar New Year replenishment activities enforced by stronger energy costs.
Deals for USA LLDPE C6 film ranging $960-970/ton CIF Vietnam while other origins stand at $1010-1050/ton with the same term.
Although the sentiment seems improved slightly compared to last week, customers are rather selective when it comes to prices and origins. Market players have been consistently reporting the lack of regular origins cargoes in local ground amid the abundant irregular USA materials.
“Our customers have not approved the use of USA LLDPE C6 film and therefore, we continue sourcing Singaporean cargoes at $1050/ton this week. We plan to stock up inventories for February first, then plan further after the Lunar New Year,” a packaging converter supplying to frozen seafood sector, reported.
Some regional and international traders also reported having sold between 300-700/ton of LLDPE film cargoes in Vietnam this week – a quantity that is not large, but the main point is that it is easier to move cargoes this week.
“We have a comfortable supply for HDPE film and plan to replenish only some LLDPE film quantity. Looking at the near-by material, Thailand material seems more competitive than the Middle East’s. We are eyeing 200-300 tons purchase this week,” a PE bag maker in Northern Vietnam added.
Market players hope for continued improving sentiment in the coming week, however, most have acknowledged the challenges in lifting offers given the mediocre acceptance levels amongst buyers in the country.
