Thai PE offers emerge in China market; demand seems picking up

It is reported that a major Thailand producer has announced fresh weekly PE offers to China with $30/ton reduction on HDPE while LLDPE film price sees $10/ton hike. It is interesting that demand for HDPE in China is improving and buyers tend to place new orders if the supplier agrees to reasonable discounts.

Sources close to the producer claimed to sell out more than 3000 tons of HDPE cargoes this morning after conceding to $10-20/ton discount from the initial price list. “We think the market is about to touch the bottom,” a market source said.
On the other note, the producer is not offering any LDPE film cargoes this time following the unexpected outage last week. The 300,000 tons/year unit is expected to remain off-line for at least a month.
