Statistics: Import PP, PE to China mostly down in October

Import PE arrival to China registered a reduction of 1.23-3.57% month-on-month in October mostly due to the weeklong National Day Holiday during the first week of the month. However, compared to the same month in 2017, all the numbers have increased considerably.

Year-on-year basis, total PP and PE import to China from January to October saw a 15.7% hike or 2,2126254 tons signaling the healthy demand condition in the market. The ban on the import of plastic scraps remains one of the biggest factors driving the increased demand for virgin grades, sources said.

It is important to note that due to the inability to separate the HS Code between LLDPE and metallocene PE (mPE), CommoPlast has combined the two grades, leading to a large increase in volume year on year.
