Shanghai warehouse survey shows limited inventories pressure on traders

CommoPlast team on 17 October 2018 conducts a warehouse survey in six pre-determined warehouses around the Shanghai area with the main objective of obtaining insights into the inventories pressure among local traders here.

The survey includes a physical site visit to these warehouses and a face-to-face interview with warehouse managers.

It is found that PE stocks are generally higher than PP, however, the inventories circulation is rather healthy, according to warehouses manager, making less concern among traders. Compared to the pre-National Day holiday week, the inventories level in these warehouses has dropped 13.3% on an average thanks to the strong post-holiday replenishment. 

“We are watching out if the current inventory digestion rate could sustain in the near term now that local market is facing a slowdown. The traditional peak demand season has begun, yet we remain cautious,” a market source added.
