Malaysian maker announced September PP, PE offers to Indonesia

A major Malaysian producer reportedly cuts September shipment offers for most of PP and PE grades by $10 – 20/ton compared to last month as a result of sluggish demand condition and the steep depreciation of the local currency.

Sources regarded the producer’s offers for homo-PP and LDPE cargoes as competitive; however, many are showing strong reluctance towards the HDPE cargoes, calling for an additional discount on deals. “Because, HDPE film in domestic distribution market is attractive, too. Together with the current exchange rate, it might be difficult for import cargoes to attract deals,” a market source informed.
