USA's Indorama to revamp cracker in Q4 2018

Market sources reported that Indorama is planning to revamp and restart its idled cracker in the fourth quarter of this year, and expected to reach full production rate by 2019.

Based in Lake Charles, Louisiana, United States, Indorama had acquired the non-operational cracker from Occidental Chemical (OxyChem) since late 2015, whereby the cracker is able to process ethane and propane feedstocks to produce 370,000 tons/year of ethylene and 30,000 tons/year of propylene which has been idled since 2001.

Upon expansion, the cracker will be able to produce 420,000 tons/year of ethylene and 20,000 tons/year of propylene.
