South Korea's Lotte Chemical to increase C2, C3 capacities upon debottlenecking

Market sources reported that Lotte Chemical will accomplish its olefin production capacity debottlenecking by mid of November 2018 via the addition of new LPG cracking furnance.

Based in Yeosu, South Korea, the new furnance which being linked to its naphtha-fed steam cracker will be using propane as feedstock. The following shows the details of the production capacity after debottlenecking:

Ethylene: from existing 1 million tons/year to 1.2 million tons/year

Propylene: from existing 520,000 tons/year to 620,000 tons/year

The steam cracker will be shut for scheduled maintenance by 21 September 2018, which debottlenecking will be carried out at the same period, and expected to remain off-stream until 31 October 2018.
