China to cut import duties rates for imports from five Asia countries
The Chinese government on 26 June 2018 announced that it would reduce import duties on soybean from India, South Korea, Bangladesh, Laos, and Sri Lanka from the current rate of 3 per cent to zero starting 1 July 2018. The authorities said this is in line with the Second Amendment of the Asia-Pacific Trade Agreement.
Also import chemicals, agricultural products, medical supplies, clothing, steel and aluminium products from these five countries will also enjoy certain tariff reductions.
For petrochemical products, import tariff on LDPE, HDPE, PP block copolymer, and random copolymer will be reduced from 6.5 per cent to 6 per cent. Meanwhile, the rate for metallocene PE, and non-commodity grade polyolefin elastomer & polyolefin plastomer is cut from 6.5 per cent to 4.2 per cent.
