Major Thailand maker continue down-adjusting PE offers to China

It is reported that a major Thailand producer has announced fresh weekly offers for PE to China with a reduction of $10-20/ton compared to last week. Chinese buyers are not surprised by the cuts citing the recent softness in purchasing interest while several major Middle Eastern producers have pioneered the trend in the previous week.

The producer’s latest price list is shown in the following table:  

“Deals for LLDPE film have been achieved immediately after a $5/ton additional discount. Taking the 6.5 per cent import duties into account, Thailand LLDPE film at $1235/ton CFR China, LC AS term would be very competitive,” a distributor informed. 

The on-going plant issue does not seem to have a major impact on the market at the moment as demand for PE in China is entering the traditional off-peak season.
