South Korea’s S-Oil Corporation might start up its newly expanded Residue Upgrading Complex (RUC) by the end of this week, sources said. The company commenced the expansion work during mid-2017, which helps to boost the propylene output to 780,000 tons/year from 660,000 tons/year.

The $4.2 billion project also includes an olefin downstream complex (ODC) that is designed to produce 405,000 tons/year of polypropylene (PP) and 300,000 tons/year of propylene oxide. Both of the units might come online in July or August, market sources added.
