South Korea's LG Chem to shut HDPE/LLDPE plant for turnaround

Market sources reported that LG Chem is planning to shut its HDPE/LLDPE swing plant by end of October for 2 weeks due to a scheduled maintenance.
Based in Yeosu, South Korea, the HDPE/LLDPE plant has a production capacity of 300,000 tons/year. The turnaround is in line with its steam cracker which will be shut for the same period. The cracker can produce 1.15 million tons of ethylene and 480,000 tons of propylene. Meanwhile, its 300,000 tons/year LDPE plant at the same site will continue to operate as usual.
A source closed to the company informed that the company exports only LDPE extrusion grade and metallocene LLDPE, meanwhile the other general purpose grades of PE are mainly offered to the domestic market.
