Thailand PE inched slightly higher in Vietnam, buyers accepted incremental hike

It is reported that a major Thailand producer has announced fresh weekly PE offers to Vietnam with small to moderate increases of $10/ton on LLDPE and LDPE film and $30/ton on HDPE film.
Latest prices stand at $1190/ton for LLDPE film, $1230/ton for LDPE film and $1370/ton for HDPE film, all based on CIF Vietnam, LC AS term.
Deals have been achieved at the latest offers, a distributor source informed, with no additional discount. “Customers started showing better acceptance, especially for HDPE film cargoes, after observing a strong buying appetite in the near-by China market. In the meantime, we are not expecting any major changes in LLDPE and LDPE film market as supply is lengthy at the moment,” the source added.
Thailand PE cargoes have been traded at relatively competitive levels over the past several months and while many other international traders, who are dealing with deep-seas cargoes constantly facing difficulties in concluding deals, this origin is gaining buyer’s attention. “We sold approximate 4,000 tons of Thailand PE cargoes this month and at the moment, more inquiries are coming in. Buyers are not aggressive, yet attractive prices and shipping time give these cargoes an competitive edge,” another distributor added.
