Japan's Keiyo to shut naphtha cracker and PE plant for maintenance

Market sources reported that Keiyo Ethylene Co Ltd is planning to shut its naphtha-fed steam cracker by 13 May 2018 for a scheduled turnaround.

Based in Chiba, Japan, the cracker has an ethylene production capacity of 700,000 tons/year and propylene capacity of 400,000 tons/year. It is expected to remain off-stream until early July 2018.  Meanwhile, its 170,000 tons/year HDPE plant on the same site will be shut for maintenance as well during the same period.
