China's CSPC officially launched petrochemical phase II plants startup

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and Shell Nanhai B.V. (Shell) has officially announced the startup of its second ethylene cracker at Nanhai petrochemical complex on 2 May 2018.
Based in Huizhou, Guangdong Province, China, the ethylene cracker has a production capacity of 1.2 million tons/year. As reported earlier, the phase II projects also include a 400,000 tons/year PP plant, a 300,000 tons/year LLDPE plant and a 400,000 tons/year HDPE plant which have been successfully completed trial production since past months. In addition, the new facility will also include a styrene monomer (SM) and propylene oxide (SMPO) plant, which will be the largest in China when it begins operations.
