Thailand maker lifted PE offers second time to China, sold out certain cargoes

Earlier today, a major Thailand producer lifted import PE offers to China by $10-20/ton from last week and after initial resistance, buyers responded quite positively toward the new prices. As a result, further increases of $5/ton on LLDPE film and $10/ton on HDPE are implemented. 

The adjusted offers lifted prices to $1265/ton for LLDPE film and $1410/ton for HDPE film and yarn, all based on CFR China, LC AS term. All other grades remain unchanged.

All available quantity of LLDPE film has been sold out, market sources said, while only several deals for HDPE film are observed. “This is very surprising. If the current market tempo persists in the next trading day, it is very likely that the supply would introduce another hike,” a market source commented.

Another trader purchased LLDPE film cargoes at $1265/ton CFR China said, “We requested for 216 tons and only managed to obtain 50% of the needed quantity. The market is very happening and it is a clear sign that prices have entered the upward trend.”
