Thailand maker lifted PE offers to China on strong local sentiment

It is reported that a major Thailand producer has announced fresh PE prices to China with $10-20/ton increased from last week, based on the support from the strengthened sentiment in the local ground.

The producer’s latest offers are shown in the following table:

In contrast to a positive expectation from supplier’s side, many buyers are showing the reluctance in accepting the increases with a trader said, “The current HDPE offers are not as competitive as domestic cargoes, and therefore, it might be difficult to achieve deals at the full hike.” 

“Import market has been very responsive toward the development in the local ground. It appears that overseas sellers once again are attempting to pull HDPE film prices to above the $1400/ton threshold and we would like to monitor the market acceptance given that supply for this grade is better now,” another source added.
