USA eyes additional tariffs on Chinese products; China is ready to fight at ‘any cost'

On Thursday, 5 April 2018, the president of the United States instructed the Trade Representative to consider $100 billion in additional tariffs against China. This comes as Chinese government plans retaliate tariffs on 106 import products from the USA earlier this week.
Media reports quoted the USA president saying, “In light of China's unfair retaliation, I have instructed the USTR to consider whether $100 billion of additional tariffs would be appropriate under section 301 and, if so, to identify the products upon which to impose such tariffs.”
China responded immediately by vowing to fight unilateralism and trade protectionism to the end at ‘any costs.’
The trade tension between the world’s two largest economies is escalating and market fears that tension could lead to a trade war.
