China plans heavy tariff on import LDPE, PVC and ACN from the USA and Canada

The trade tension between China and the USA continue to escalate after the USA pushed ahead with plans to impose tariff on about $50 billion of Chinese industrial and hi-tech products. In retaliation, China announced the plan of lifting import duties for another 106 products from the USA and Canada to 25% including LDPE, PVC and ACN. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce would reveal the implementation date separately.

Simultaneously, China also lifted anti-dumping duties for import ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol from the USA and EU. Following is the list of the companies affected and the rate.

 

Ethylene glycol is used in many consumer products including antifreeze, coolant and other solvents and paints while DEG is a widely used solvent.
