Recent cold weaker in South Korea has caused severe shutdowns on crackers, whereby the plants which being affected include:
Korea Petrochemical Industry Co (KPIC)
800,000 tons/year of ethylene
500,000 tons/year of propylene
Shutdown date: 24-25 January 2018
SK Global Chemical
660,000 tons/year of ethylene
350,000 tons/year of propylene
Shutdown date: 24 January 2018
Although the shutdown durations are short, players are taking cautious stance monitoring for the possibilities of further issues on other plants in Northern Asia.
