Thailand's HDPE and PP supply might tighten amid maintenance season

Several major PP and PE producers in Thailand are planning for maintenance work in February and March 2018, which attract market speculation that supply from this country might tighten in the near term.

Following are the maintenance shutdown schedules gathered by CommoPlast:

These shutdown resulted in an estimated production loss of more than 33,500 tons of HDPE and 17,200 tons of PP, which potentially hamper the already tight supply condition.

Thailand is a major PP and PE supplier in Southeast Asia, exporting 2,478,687 tons of PE and 857,750 tons of PP in 2016, according the CommoPlast’s statistics.
