Indonesia reduced import duties for Indian PP, PE

It is reported that the Indonesian government has cut custom duties for import polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) from India from 10 per cent in 2017, to 6 per cent this year. The Circular released during late December 2017 have come to effect as of 1 January 2018.

India has brought online around 3 million tons of new PE capacity in 2017 and currently very active in seeking new export destinations. The reduction in import duties would give Indian producers a competitive advantage against other dutiable origin when selling to Indonesia.
