Major Thailand producer stepped back on PE offers to China

It is reported that a major Thailand producer has cut weekly PE offers to China due to persistent weak demand condition. The producer’s HDPE film cargoes currently stand at the upper end of the overall price range, which face stiff resistance. A cut of $10/ton week on week is introduced, bringing latest price list for HDPE film to $1345/ton CFR China, LC AS term.
At the meantime, LDPE offers down $15/ton to $1195/ton for film and $1220/ton for heavy duty grade. Metallocene PE prices stand at $1295/ton with the same term. All for first half of February 2018 shipment.
Initial respond from market is not very strong and many buyers continue to hold wait and see stance on the final trading week of the year. “Our customers are away for holiday and we think more activities might emerge in the coming month,” a distributor said.
