Malaysian producer opened PE offers to Vietnam with increases

A Malaysian producer reportedly opened new PE offers to Vietnam this week with small increase of $10/ton for LDPE film from last month. Latest price list stand at $1290/ton for LDPE film, $1340/ton for LDPE heavy duty, $1360/ton for LDPE lamination and at $1260/ton for PP coating, all based on CIF Vietnam, LC AS term.

Buyers again, are placing bids at the last done-deal levels, asking for $40/ton discount on LDPE film cargoes. “And at the moment, we are waiting for the producer to feedback,” a buyer said.

With the recent hike in ethylene costs, it become less likely that the producer would conceded to such large discount, couple of distributor commented, “Other suppliers have also lifted prices in line with higher production costs. Yet, we are waiting for signal from the principal supplier,” a source added.
