Taiwanese major lifted January PVC offers, India's demand seems improved

A major Taiwanese producer has announced January shipment offers for PVC to regional market with $20/ton hike from last month. Latest price list reaches $910/ton to India and $860/ton to China and Southeast Asia.
Initial respond from Indian buyers is relatively healthy with an international distributor said, “We have pre-sold 1000 tons to India even before the price announcement. Market is responding very well towards the new prices.”
The increases are in line with market’s initial expectation. Indian players are hoping to see a stronger recovery in demand starting January, which encourage aggressive purchasing activities in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, Southeast Asian players are reluctant in making large purchases citing the availability of more competitive cargoes in local ground. “We are able to obtain quantity from domestic producers at similar level. We are waiting for more suppliers to announce new offers before making decision. Demand for our end product is good,” a Vietnamese pipe manufacturer said.
