Thai maker suspended HDPE film offers to Vietnam on healthy China market

It is reported that a major Thailand producer has suspended all HDPE film offerings to Vietnam as of today, 8 November 2017, claiming healthy buying interest from China market. Earlier this week, the producer announced weekly prices to Vietnam at $1260/ton for HDPE film, CIF Vietnam, LC AS term.

Tight supply in China continues to support the firming trend for the HDPE market with deals for Thailand cargoes reported in the range $1330-1340/ton CFR China, LC AS term. A distributor selling to Vietnam market said, “Suppliers are gaining better margins selling to China, which might cause serious shortage of HDPE film in Southeast Asia in the coming month. Availability in domestic ground is not high and we expect to see a surge in demand soon.”
