Re-export HDPE film from Vietnam showed up in China

As reported earlier, Vietnamese traders have been actively collecting HDPE film cargoes in domestic ground after spotting a wide-opened window of opportunity to yield better profit in China market. Today, several Chinese sources have received re-export HDPE film cargoes from Vietnam for various origin at the range $1255-1270/ton CFR China, LC AS term.

Supply for HDPE film in China tightened up seriously due to several issues including the delay of Iranian cargoes, shortage of recycled material and the switch in domestic production to HDPE pipe grade amid better margins. “Market is very happening and many buyers are searching for HDPE film cargoes to ensure safe inventories levels. We managed to conclude some deals for Middle Eastern cargoes at $1270/ton CFR China term, and we hope market would remains in this condition in the near term,” a Vietnamese trader commented.

Several other Vietnamese traders also claimed to have sold re-export Middle Eastern HDPE film to China at $1255-1270/ton CFR term. However, a number of Chinese buyers are showing more interest in a specific Iranian HDPE film grade. “We do receive several offers for re-export cargoes from Vietnam, however we did not proceed with purchases. Prices are too high now and we prefer to take cautious stance,” a Shanghai based trader said.
