Japan Polypropylene shut PP plant due to technical issues

Japan Polypropylene Corporation (JPP) unexpectedly shutdown its 300,000 tons/year PP unit in Kashima prefecture today after running into serious technical issues, market sources said. Severe equipment damages are reported, resulted in a massive amount of repair work.
In a letter to customers, JPP said it has initiated an open checking and the plant might need to remain offline for 6 months.
