Japan completed anti-dumping investigation on import PET from China, rates proposed

It is reported that Japanese authorities have completed the anti-dumping investigation on import polyethylene terephthalate (PET) from China on 23 August 2017. Thereafter, the Finance Ministry has drafted and proposed preliminary ADD rate on all import PET from China in the range 39.8% to 53%.
Final review would take place on 29 August 2017 and if gain approval from the Cabinet, the implementation would take place starting 2 September 2017.
Japan is one of the most important export outlets for Chinese PET producers, importing a total of 482,538 tons in 2016, accounting for more than 50% of Japan’s total PET import. The implementation of ADD would therefore cast a shadow on the Chinese PET market.
