According to market sources, Thailand’s SCG is forced to shutdown couple of its PP and HDPE lines over the weekend due to electricity issues. There have not been confirmation on the restart date, however a source close to the company informed that tentatively, these lines would be able to come back online during late September 2017.

Units affected included the HDPE line number 2, with capacity of 200,000 tons/year, making mainly HDPE blow molding grade and PP line number 1, capacity 140,000 tons/year, producing homo-PP injection grade.

Supply is expected to be tight in the coming month, especially for HDPE grade, as this line has been unstable throughout the past month. More update on the restart date would become available toward end of this week.
