Thai producer maintain PE offers on stable to firm to Vietnam

A major Thailand producer has announced fresh weekly PE offers to Vietnam at stable to $10/ton firmer despite a strong surge in upstream ethylene market. Latest offers from the producer stand at $1130/ton for HDPE film, $1140/ton for HDPE yarn and LLDPE film, and at $1240/ton for LDPE film, all based on CIF Vietnam, LC AS term.

Vietnamese buyers are surprised with such humble pricing decision, as most other suppliers have implemented larger increment. A distributor commented, “Buyers are showing weaker interest after the hike. It might be difficult to lift offers any further in spite of high ethylene costs. Supply in local market is comfortable, therefore domestic traders are unable to catch up with the development in import ground.”
