PetroChina Qingyang restarted PP plant after three years

Market sources reported that PetroChina Qingyang Petrochemical Company has  restarted its 100,000 tons/year PP unit in Gansu on 6 June 2017 after three years offline.

In 2014, the company took the unit off-stream for a maintenance work and has been facing persistent technical issues, which prevent smooth come back. Players attributed such long shutdown to the fact that the company is not gaining from economy of scale amid high rate of new coal based start up. At the moment, the unit is producing only 10 tons per hour on-spec material.
