A major Southeast Asian producer has reportedly revised offers downward for PP to Malaysia market, four days after the new price announcement. The latest price list indicated additional reduction of $10-20/ton on PP random copolymer, $10/ton on PP coating and $20/ton thermoforming PP. Other grades, including homo-PP and LDPE prices remain unchanged.

A distributor offered on behalf of the producer informed, “Though supply in local Malaysia market is rather tight on production issues, we don’t see exceptional demand condition. We think our principal supplier elected to maintain homo-PP and LDPE prices unchanged because of the on-going shutdown at these lines while other PP units are operating at normal rate.”

Singapore’s PCS has restarted its troubled crackers earlier this week and if the company is able to achieve smooth operation, Singapore’s TPC might be able to restart the PP and LDPE lines in the near term as feedstock supply resumed.
