Emergency shutdown at China's Maoming PE plants

According to market sources, Sinopec Maoming Petrochemical Company Limited has unexpectedly shut its No. 2 LDPE and HDPE unit due to electrical short circuit at its No. 2 cracker ternary refrigeration compressor.

Located at Guangdong, China, the No. 2 LDPE unit and HDPE unit has a production capacity of 250,000 ton/year and 350,000 tons/year respectively. The restart schedule could not be ascertained. Meanwhile, its 220,000 tons/year LLDPE as well as its MEG plants are operating at a reduced production rate.
