Thailand producer slashed PE offers to Vietnam

A major Thailand producer has announced fresh HDPE and LDPE film offers to Vietnam today with $30/ton reduction from last week despite firming upstream costs. Players said such reduction could cause by falling demand in local Thai market due to the Songkran Festival.

Latest offers from the market stand at $1170/ton for HDPE film and yarn and $1340/ton for LDPE film, all based on CIF Vietnam, LC AS term.

A buyer placed bid for LDPE film cargoes at $1300/ton with the same term said, “Supply for LDPE film is eased now and we think prices for Southeast Asian cargoes might soon breach below the $1300/ton threshold.”
