Import Chinese carbide based PVC fell below $800/ton threshold in Vietnam

Vietnamese players this week reported receiving offers for carbide based PVC from Chinese supplier at below the $800/ton mark, reaching $790/ton CIF Vietnam, LC AS term. The latest offer indicates some $40/ton drop week on week basis for this grade.

Buyers in the country are caught with surprise, as many did not expect such drastic movement. A market source said, “We have purchased large quantity in the previous month and though our end product business remain stable, we might wait for ethylene based PVC to soften further before making fresh replenishment to balance up the costs.”
