Domestic traders slashed HDPE film prices in Indonesia

Indonesian buyers reported that several domestic traders have reduced HDPE film offers as a result of persistent weak demand in order to smoothen sales process. Latest prices in the distribution market indicated IDR300,000/ton ($22/ton) dropped week on week basis, reaching IDR16,500,000/ton ($1235/ton) FD Indonesia, cash term.

A buyer commented, “We are negotiating for further discount to purchase a small quantity. Domestic market is more competitive than import material; hence it is our preference at the moment.”

A trader added, “Local PE supply is rather tight due to the on going production issues. However, demand is really weak even with the preparation for Ramadan season is around the corner. We are not very confident about the near term outlook.”
