Japan's Tosoh to shut two VCM lines in first half of 2017

According to market sources, Japan’s Tosoh Corporation is planning annual turnaround at two of its VCM lines during the first six months of 2017. The first schedule is conducted at its separate VCM plant in Yokkaichi with capacity of 254,000 tons/year during the end of March 2017 for about one month.

The second schedule shall be carried out at its No. 1 VCM unit in Yamagata, which is designed to produce 250,000 tons/year. Initial plan called for a shutdown from May-June 2017, however, no other details are provided. Meanwhile, the company has yet to announce any maintenance shutdown plan at another two VCM unit at the same location.

Tosoh Corporation is among the largest VCM producers in Asia, possessing two plants with four production lines in two different location that accounted for nearly 1.5 millions tons of output per annum.
