Import HDPE film moved higher in China

This week, Chinese traders continue to increase offers for HDPE film to the country after a brief week of slow down, claiming healthy demand for ready or prompt cargoes.
Earlier this week, major Thailand maker slashed HDPE film offers to the country by $5-10/ton compared to last week; however, traders are offering $30/ton higher than producer’s price list to reach $1200/ton CFR China, LC AS term. The source informed, “We could not conclude deals at this price level, however we are not in rush to make any reduction due to limited quantity we have on hand. If futures market continue to firm up, we believed buyers would accept to buy at slight discount.”
Another trader offered Saudi’s HDPE film at $1200/ton CFR China, LC 90 days term informed, “Respond is not very good since this price is similar to domestic level. We are having ready cargoes in the bonded warehouse and we prefer to hold firm stance on our offers.”
Meanwhile, deep-seas cargoes are offered at well below the above mentioned prices and buyers are not responding very well pointing to high risk associated with the long shipping time.
Import HDPE film to China is currently reported at $1120-1230/ton CFR China, LC 0-90 days term.
