AGC Asahi Glass acquired Solvay's share in Vinylthai

Japanese conglomerate - AGC Asahi Glass in an official statement announced that the company has successfully purchased the 58.77 per cent of Solvay’s shares in Thailand PVC maker – Vinylthai.

The transfer of the 696,511,059 shares is expected to complete in the first half of 2017 and there will not be any major changes in the company’s business performance. Vinylthai is a fully integrated PVC producer in Thailand with plant designed to make 280,000 tons/year of PVC, 400,000 tons/year of VCM and 320,000 tons/year of EDC.

Earlier this year, AGC Asahi Glass has also completed the purchase of 78 per cent shares in a Vietnamese PVC maker, Phu My Plastics & Chemicals Co., Ltd. (PMPC). With the acquisition of Vinylthai, AGC Asahi Glass has now had presence in all key Southeast Asian market: Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
