South Korea's Lotte to expand ethylene output

According to market sources, Lotte Chemical Co. is investing USD257 million to boost the ethylene output from its Yeosu cracker. The project is expected to complete by end of 2018. Up on completion, ethylene capacity from the cracker will increase by 20%, bringing total production to 1.2 million tons/year.  

Lotte Chemical own two naphtha crackers in South Korea, with total ethylene capacity stand at 2 million tons/year at the moment. With the expansion, the company would become the largest ethylene maker in the country.
