China's NMC shut PTA unit unexpectedly

According to market sources, Ningbo Mitsubishi Chemical Company (NMC) has experienced an emergency shutdown at its purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant yesterday on 15 February 2016 due to a technical glitch as a result of equipment failure.

Located in Ningbo, Zhejiang, China, the plant is having nameplate capacity of 600,000 ton/year but usually operates at a rate of 700,000 ton/year. It is expected to remain off stream for 5 to 7 days while the company is aiming to resume their productions on 20 February 2016.
